About RoamRight

How is RoamRight different than my current provider?
While it may seem that all travel insurance providers offer similar coverages, there are some key differences that set RoamRight apart from other providers. Our guide, 5 Things to Look for in a Travel Insurance Provider, can help you assess your current provider and the benefits of switching to RoamRight.

Are your plans tailored to a specific kind of trip?
While RoamRight’s core products meet the needs of most travelers, we know that many travelers and organizations have specific needs. Find out about the types of businesses we currently partner with. Or, we can help you identify a plan that meets your needs when you contact us.

Becoming a RoamRight Partner or Affiliate

How do I partner with RoamRight?
It’s easy to become a RoamRight business partner or affiliate. Simply contact us. One of our regional sales managers will reach out to you to walk you through it.

What are your commission rates?
We look at each account on a case-by-case basis. While commission rates vary by plan, a RoamRight regional sales manager will review your current commission structure and requirements. As a RoamRight business partner, you’ll receive the same commission regardless of whether a traveler buys online or over the phone. Additionally, there are no administrative fees so you collect a commission on the entire sale.

I am not licensed to sell insurance products. How can I still protect my travelers?
Licensing requirements vary by state, and a RoamRight regional sales manager can discuss your options with you. At minimum, anyone can become an online affiliate. This is simply creating a link from your website to ours.

As a home-based travel agent, can I sell RoamRight?
Yes! We do not require agency identifiers (True, CLIA, or IATAN) to offer travel insurance. So if you want to offer RoamRight, contact us. We’ll be happy to work with you!

When should I offer insurance to my travelers?
Statistics show that the best time to offer travel insurance is during the initial booking process. This is when your travelers are most likely to choose the extra protection provided by RoamRight. There are many factors that can sway a person into purchasing insurance. A few of the most common considerations include:

  • Are they willing to risk losing non-refundable trip deposits?
  • Will their health insurance cover them in their destination?
  • Will their health insurance pay to a foreign provider directly, or will they need to submit for reimbursement when they return home?
  • Is there likelihood that weather can impact their travel plans (winter storms or hurricane season?)

RoamRight Policies and Benefits

Where can I find a list of RoamRight plans?
You can find a list of our consumer plans on RoamRight.com. A regional sales manager can speak with you regarding options for group plans and plans available exclusively through RoamRight partners.

Do you have an option to waive pre-existing medical conditions?
Yes. For certain RoamRight policies, if a traveler purchases the policy within 21 days of making the initial trip deposit, any exclusions relating to pre-existing medical conditions are waived.

What is considered a pre-existing condition?
For most RoamRight plans, we define pre-existing conditions as: Any Injury, Sickness or condition of You, a Traveling Companion or Your and/or Your Traveling Companion’s Family Member for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received within the 180 day period ending on the Effective Date. Sicknesses or conditions are not considered pre-existing if the Sickness or condition for which prescribed drugs or medicine is taken remains controlled without any change in the required prescription.

We have a few select plans where the look-back period is shortened to 60 days.

Is medical coverage primary or excess?
Most RoamRight plans offer emergency medical coverage in excess of a traveler’s primary health insurance. However, during an emergency, to speed the process, we will function as a traveler’s primary insurance and then subrogate with their primary. Our Pro Plus plan includes primary medical coverage.

Is assistance available 24/7?
Yes, your travelers will have access to our 24/7 emergency assistance provider. They can call direct or collect, as well as email or request help using the RoamRight mobile app. Regardless of how they contact the assistance provider, your travelers can receive help anywhere in the world.

Do you cover natural disasters?
RoamRight provides 24/7 assistance services, including evacuation help, for travelers caught in a natural disaster.

Do you cover acts of terrorism?
RoamRight can provide 24/7 assistance services for travelers who need to evacuate a country due to an act of terrorism. Furthermore, RoamRight’s trip cancellation benefit is triggered when a terrorist attack occurs within 30 days of departure and within the territorial limits of a city listed on the traveler’s itinerary.

What is supplier default and how does RoamRight protect travelers from it?
When a travel insurance plan is purchased within 21 days of the initial trip deposit, travelers are protected against bankruptcy or default that causes a complete cessation of travel services, provided it occurs more than 14 days following the effective date of coverage.
