When Do You Need Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance?

So we hear you are a frequent traveler, taking multiple trips every year. We also hear you are a savvy traveler and you buy a travel insurance policy before every one of those trips. It sounds like you certainly know what you’re doing!

But, have you ever considered an annual multi-trip travel insurance policy?

What is Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance?

Annual multi-trip travel insurance provides travel insurance coverage for an unlimited number of trips in a single year. This means you only have to purchase a policy before your first trip of the year and you will not have to purchase a policy for additional trips taken over the next 365 days.

What is the number of trips covered in a full year? Is there a limit?

With the Arch RoamRight Multi-Trip plan, the number of trips is unlimited. However, there is a trip cost limit that you cannot exceed during your year of travel.

The Arch RoamRight Multi-Trip plan provides four options for a combined maximum trip cost at the time of purchase: $2,500, $5,000, $7,500, or $10,000. Whatever trip cost you decide to insure at the time of purchase is the maximum trip cost you cannot exceed throughout the course of the year among all trips combined.

Since we know travel can be unpredictable, if you find yourself about to exceed your maximum trip cost on your Multi-Trip Plan, you can give us a call at 800-699-3845 and we will help you find an additional policy that best fits your needs.

Is There a Limit to the Number of Days Traveled With an Annual Multi-Trip Policy?

No single trip insured by an Arch RoamRight Multi-Trip plan can exceed 30 consecutive days. The end of a trip is defined as returning to your place of residence.

Overall, there is not a limit to the number of days traveled during the full year of your multi-trip policy, as long as a single trip doesn’t exceed 30 days and you do not exceed your covered trip cost.

What Does Multi-Trip Travel Insurance Cover?

Within the Arch RoamRight Multi-Trip plan, you will find many of the coverages you are used to in a single-trip plan, such as Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, baggage coverages, Emergency Medical, and more.

Is Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance Cheaper than a Single Trip Policy?

There are a variety of factors that are used to determine the price of a travel insurance policy. Therefore, an annual multi-trip travel insurance plan may not always be cheaper than a single trip policy purchased for each trip, but a multi-trip plan can provide convenience in not having to buy a policy before every trip in a year.

Do You Need to Keep Buying Travel Insurance if You Have an Annual Multi-Trip Policy?

As long as you have yet to exceed your covered trip cost for the year and your trip is not going to be longer than 30 days, you should not need to purchase additional travel insurance if you already have a multi-trip plan.

There are some cases where you might consider a stand-alone policy, such as an exceptionally expensive trip or a trip that you want higher travel medical benefit limits.

If I Buy an Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance Plan, Do I Need to Alert You Before Every Trip?

No, that’s the best part! As long as your trip falls within the trip cost maximum and length maximum, you do not need to let us know before every trip.

When is Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance Not the Best Choice?

There are a few reasons why an annual multi-trip travel insurance plan may not be the best choice for you and your travel needs:

  • Infrequent travel: If you only take one trip per year, an annual plan might not make sense for you.
  • Trips exceeding 30 days: Though you may take many trips a year, you may have multiple trips that exceed the 30-day maximum trip length in the annual plan. You might want to consider single trip policies, which with Arch RoamRight can cover you for those longer trips.
  • Need higher benefit limits: Some Arch RoamRight single-trip plans, such as Elite, features higher limits for benefits such as Emergency Accident & Sickness Medical Expense ($50,000) and Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation ($1,000,000). Depending on your travel needs, a plan like this might make more sense for you.
