Hot Cruise Destinations in 2014

Thanks to European River cruises, Budapest is a great destination for cruises.

As far as vacations go, cruises are becoming a more and more popular option with each passing year. And, it's no wonder – you can cruise to some pretty spectacular destinations all around the world these days.

If you're considering adding a cruiseto your 2014 travel itinerary, here are some destinations that are predicted to be hot in 2014.

Europe By River

River cruises are becoming increasingly popular, with more companies offering itineraries each year. With lots of long rivers and many major cities situated upon these rivers in Europe, it is no wonder that Europe is the top destination for most rivercruisers. Whether it's the Danube or the Rhine; Paris or Budapest that you're interested in, there's probably a perfect river route out there for you. These days, river cruise lines are not only offering country/region-themed sailings, but also activity-basedcruises, with focuses on things like wine and Christmas markets. If you want to explore Europe in a slightly different way, cruising its rivers is something to consider.

Asia– Especially Japan

With its long and rich history, ultra-modern cities, and well-known travel eye candy (think temples and cherry blossoms), Japan has many tempting draws. But the Land of the Rising Sun can be expensive and tricky to navigate by land on your own. Thisis why some experts predict that more cruise lines will offer itineraries in Japan in 2014. Since the country is nothing more than a collection of islands, it makes an ideal cruise destination. Most Japan cruises include ports of call in other nearbyAsian countries, too, which is perfect for anyone interested in exploring this part of the world by sea.

Central America – Especially Panama

In 2014, the Panama Canal will celebrate its 100th anniversary. You can cruise through the canal (voted one of the seven wonders of the modern world), but it's also anticipated that more cruise lines will be scheduling stops in Panama in 2014 in orderto coincide with this anniversary. Central America in general is becoming more popular as a tropical cruise destination, with countries like Belize and Panama increasingly represented on new cruise itineraries.

Oceania

Lastly, the South Pacific is another destination becoming popular with cruisers. This part of the world (and Australia especially) has long been a bucket list destination for many Americans, and this is represented in increased cruise itineraries eachyear. Experts predict that this trend will only continue in 2014, owing to cruises being a great way to see a lot of the Land Down Under.
