Cruise Tips: What To Do In St Thomas In A Day

Saint Thomas is an island in the Caribbean Sea CT

When visiting a new destination, it might be difficult to choose your activities and decide on what to see or do. This is especially difficult if you’re visiting an island like St. Thomas on a cruise where you will only have a day to explore. Even though St Thomas is only 32 square miles in size, there are a lot of things to do. So when you arrive to this tropical island be sure not to waste time and make the most of your visit with these important tips.

Sightseeing

Why not start your day off with some exploring in the morning on an Island Tour? It is the best way to get a taste of what the island is all about. You will get familiar with the scenery, the atmosphere and it will allow you to come back to your favorite spots when you have more time. You can either rent a car or just hop onboard one of the many tours that are offered. Most tours will take you up to the highest point of St Thomas, Mountain Top, where you will have amazing views over the island and even see the neighboring sister island, St John. You also pass Blackbeard`s Castle, Drake’s Seat and much more.

After exploring the island, it’s time for lunch and a bit of downtime. What better way than relaxing on the beach! St Thomas has a few beaches worth the visit, but Magens Bay Beach is probably the most famous. In the past, National Geographic Magazine has even named it one of the World’s Most Beautiful Beaches. Because of the beauty of this heart-shaped bay, it’s a perfect spot to just sunbathe, relax and read a book. But if you’re up for something more active, you can go for a swim in the turquoise water or be adventurous and go kayaking.

Shopping

With a reputation of having the best shopping areas in the Caribbean, you can’t miss out on duty-free deals that are offered in the shops. Consider heading to Downtown Charlotte Amalie which is easily walkable and great to combine with visiting other sites such as Fort Christian and the St. Thomas Synagogue. If you prefer to be closer to where the cruise ships disembark, then Havensight Mall is for you. With over 50 shops I’m sure you will find a souvenirto bring home.

What’s your favorite thing to do in St Thomas?
