5 Things To Do In Bermuda

RoamRight Shares 5 Things To Do In Bermuda

Bermuda is only a 2-hour flight from the East Coast and the perfect weekend escape if you want to get away from it all. The island vibe and friendly locals will make you feel like you just discovered paradise.

1. Explore the Beaches

The beaches in Bermuda are stunning. Imagine yourself strolling on a pink beach, toes touching the soft sand while overlooking the ocean that changes colors through the play of sunlight giving the water the most beautiful shades of blue and turquoise. Walk the scenic trail from Warwick Long Bay to Horseshoe Bay to discover hidden coves along the way.

2. Enjoy the Art

You`d be surprised at how much art is present on the island of Bermuda. If you`re an art lover make sure to stop by the Bermuda National Gallery, centrally located at the City Hall and Arts Centre in the heart of Hamilton. Here you`ll find a permanent collection of local and international art. Want to see more? Then drop by Masterworks, Museum of Bermuda Art, hidden in the Botanical Gardens where you`ll be able to enjoy a collection of Bermuda inspired art.

3. Visit the Crystal Caves

One of my favorite things when visiting the beautiful island of Bermuda was a visit to the Crystal Caves. This natural wonder was discovered by accident in 1905. Two 13 year olds were playing cricket when they lost their ball. When looking for their ball, they stumbled upon the caves. The clear underground pools and crystal formations will leave you astonished.

4. Wander around Royal Naval Dockyard

The Dockyard is a fun place to wander around as there is so much to see. The Bermuda Rum Cake Factory, the Dockyard Hot Glass Studio, the ClockTower Shopping Mall to name but a few. Something not to miss is the Commissioner`s House with its mural. The History of Bermuda mural by Graham Foster, a real masterwork which took the artist three and a half years to complete. Tip: This is also the place where cruise ships dock, so it might get crowded at some times.

5. Have a Rum Swizzle

A must during your trip is to either try a Rum Swizzle or a Dark and Stormy. Both are referred to as national Bermudian drinks and rum based cocktails. Rum, fruit juice and a flavored sweetener such as grenadine are the ingredients of the Rum Swizzle. The Dark and Stormy has only two ingredients being rum and ginger beer served over ice. You can find these drinks almost anywhere on the island, but the Swizzle Inn is famous for its swizzles.

Please drink responsibly and use a designated driver, as your RoamRight policy does not cover loss resulting from or caused by being under the influence of alcohol.
