What is Schengen Travel Insurance and Do I Need It?

Many popular tourist destinations for U.S. citizens are located within the Schengen Area – a group of European countries that allow easy passage between their borders. If your trip requires you to have a Schengen Visa (i.e. you'll be there for more than 90 days), you may be required to purchase insurance or you will not be allowed to enter the country.

Which Arch RoamRight travel insurance plans satisfy Schengen Visa requirements?

Arch RoamRight Preferred, Elite, Pro, and Pro Plus

As a part of the Schengen Visa application process you must have proof of travel insurance with at least $50,000 in emergency medical benefits. With Arch RoamRight, the Preferred, Elite, Pro, and Pro Plus plans, each have emergency medical benefits that either meet or exceed this requirement. If you choose the Arch RoamRight Essential plan, you can reach that medical benefit limit requirement if you also purchase the additional Medical and Evacuation Coverage upgrade.

What are the Schengen countries?

The following countries are a part of the Schengen Area which are under an official agreement that allows for easy travel between the countries’ borders.

This ensures that in the case of an emergency, the traveler is able to cover any medical expenses should they require treatment.
