More than 1,300 travel bloggers and digital content creators recently convened in Toronto, Canada, for the 2013 TBEX conference, the oldest and largest travel blogger event in the world.
At the show, of which RoamRight was a key sponsor, bloggers and industry insiders gathered to learn, network and showcase the best of the travel blogging industry.
Since its modest start just five years ago, the TBEX conference has grown as quickly as the travel blogging industry itself. Destinations and brands depend on travel bloggers for everything from social media advice to creating dynamic content for their websites. Additionally, bloggers are an important source of travel information for people planning trips. Recent surveys indicate that 40% of all travelers consult a blog at least once before booking a trip.
TBEX showcased many professional development seminars including sessions on Instagram, how to work with the travel industry and even how to hire a virtual assistant. The conference wasn’t just about work though; several social functions allowed attendees a great chance to network.
Toronto Tourism hosted the Welcome Party, showcasing the best of regional food, wines and beers. Saturday night belonged to Expedia, who wowed guests with a red carpet costume party on an island featuring amazing views of Toronto.
Attendees left the 2013 TBEX conference feeling productive and proud of their still nascent industry. The location for the 2014 show hasn’t been announced yet, but I’m sure that it will be another blow out event.
