Perfect Vacation Spots If You Have Children Under 7

Vacations are huge for kids. The world seems bigger, imaginations are vividly sharper and experiences are carved deep into their minds.

Family vacations bring us closer together and provide us with exciting memories. Picking the right family vacation for younger children can be challenging but can also create some of the most memorable moments.

Let’s discover a few family vacations spots that kids, 7 and under (older too!), are sure to love.

Washington, D.C.

What better vacation for the entire family than the capital of our country? There are a few perks that draw families with young children to Washington D.C.

First, there are many top-notch museums that children of all ages adore like the Smithsonian Institution, which includes the Museum of Natural History, the Air and Space Museum, the American History Museum and the National Zoo.

Another reason that Washington D.C. is a good choice for families is because it is extremely budget friendly. Hotels and restaurants are affordable and many of D.C's attractions are completely free.

The capital is also a fantastic vacation spot to start teaching your family about the history of our country and the documents on which our nation was founded.

Orlando, Florida

Home to Universal Studios, Disney World, and Islands of Adventure; Orlando has become a major theme park vacation destination and an ideal spot that your kids will remember for years.

Spark your children's imaginations as they are enchanted by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios. Watch their faces light up as they flick their wands and make it rain in the street or light up the candles in a store front.

Then head to the Islands of Adventure, a separate park right next to Universal Studios that has a ton of rides, shows, and attractions that are fun for the entire family.

Orlando showcases some of the best of Disney and no where else is quite like it. At Walt Disney World your little ones can shake hands with Buzz Lightyear, Snow White and Mickey Mouse. After a fun filled day, your kids will love the spectacular fireworks show that lights the night sky.

Orlando is not the cheapest vacation spot for families. However, both these theme parks offer discounts on both the parks and hotels, so it is easy to find a good deal if you spend a little time researching.

Another tip to save some time is if you are staying in a hotel owned by Universal Studios, is to get a pass that allows you into the park an hour early. This makes it easy to beat some of the crowds to the rides. Walt Disney World and Universal Studios are an excellent combination that makes for a very exciting vacation for the entire family.

Big Island, Hawaii

Show off Mother Nature's beauty to your kids by taking them to one of the most beautiful states in America, Hawaii. Plus, it is perfect for an exotic adventure without the stress of leaving the country. The kids will love the jungles, forests and beaches.

The Big Island is foreign enough that parents are sure to have fun as well. Hawaii is much more than soft sandy beaches and beautiful blue waters and this is the perfect island to discover everything that makes the state so great.

The island holds many adventures from the constantly flowing lava in Volcanoes National Park to the gushing waterfalls of Akaka State Park. Hawaii is a vacation that leaves you with fond family memories.

Factory Tours

A factory tour might not sound like a great vacation for the younger children, but trust me, once they get into some of these factories, they will love every second. One of my personal favorites is also one of the most delicious – Ben and Jerry’s in Vermont.

A factory tour of Ben and Jerry might be bad for the waistline, but it is an unforgettable day for the young ones. Drool as you watch The Chunk Feeder work hard to produce over 60,000 gallons of ice cream every day and watch more than 350 pounds of chocolate turning in massive tubs. It surely will have your taste buds tingling.

Another perk is that Ben and Jerry's tour is extremely family friendly. Tickets are $4 for ages over 12. If you are under 12 admission is free.

Become Mini Farmers

Let your children play farmer for the week by gathering eggs, feeding sheep, going on hay rides, and milking cows. Getting out of the city and away from the crowds will give you the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with your little ones.

There is a lot of fun to be had as you run through corn mazes, cook over bonfires, and play with the barnyard animals.

There are many farms to choose from such as Hull-O Farms in New York and Weatherbury Farm in Pennsylvania. The perfect time of the year for this outing is during the summer months.

From venturing into magical lands to discovering the secrets of ice cream, America is full of amazing and beautiful vacation destinations that are just right for kids under 7. In fact, many of these places not only appeal to the young ones but to the whole family as well.
